Data Engineer, Sydney

As a Data Engineer in Sydney, I knew property investment was the path to building long-term wealth. But when I started looking into it seriously, I hit a wall.

The DIY options were overwhelming—endless spreadsheets, conflicting advice, and no way to know if I was missing something critical. A full-service buyer's agent could help, but I still wanted a clear way to check the properties I found myself before I had a shortlist.

So I did what engineers do: I built a system. Using my background in data engineering, I created a repeatable framework to check properties using Australian data sources—ABS Census demographics, RBA economic indicators, state government data—and keep the findings in a structured workflow.

The process helped me stay organised. I went from complete beginner to property owner, purchasing a 3BR townhouse in Rockhampton QLD that I would not have reviewed seriously without a structured way to check the numbers and context.
